![]() | The Reverend M. Stuart Baer is the Director of the Department of Spiritual Care. After working as a financial analyst Father Baer received his Ph in Philosophy and STL in Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas. He did postgraduate studies in Canon Law at the Pontifical Lateran University and was an administrator in church organizations and a parish priest. He is fluent in Italian. Father Baer completed his internship in Clinical Pastoral Education at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York and residencies in Clinical Pastoral Education at Yale-New Haven Hospital and The Hospital Chaplaincy and supervised Clinical Pastoral Education at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He served as Coordinator of Clinical Pastoral Education at Northwest Covenant Medical Center. Father Baer is currently pursuing an MBA through the University of Chicago and is a Certified Chaplain in the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.. |

![]() | The Reverend Jeff Fleming has been on staff at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center since 1998. Rev. Jeff is chaplain for 3C Perioperative services, 4B Telemetry and 4C Med/Surg. Before becoming a chaplain he was a missionary for 17 years. After receiving his MA in InterCultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena he completed an internship at UCLA Medical Center and residency in Clinical Pastoral Education at UCLA Neuro Psychiatric Institute. He is weekend chaplain for Saint Joseph and for Holy Cross Trauma Center, 4D Rehab and Villa Sub-Acute/TCU. After graduating Perkins School of Theology, McCormick Theological Seminary and the Graduate Theological Foundation he pastored churches and served as a missions executive in the US and Africa for 48 years and as chaplain at Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center and Veterans Administration Medical Center Sepulveda. He completed Clinical Pastoral Education at UCLA Medical Center. Brother Joe is chaplain for 3B Oncology, Providence Cancer Center and Providence Home Hospice. He facilitates the Cancer Support Group. Before becoming a chaplain Brother Joe was an educator for 17 years. After graduate work at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley he completed his residency in Clinical Pastoral Education at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center. He writes a regular column, "Spirituality and Cancer," for the Cancer Support Group Newsletter and has been a speaker locally and at state conferences of the California Hospice Association. She co-facilitates the Bereavement Support Group at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
