The GenderQueer (R)evolution
Have you ever felt like "M," "F," or
even "FTM" and "MTF" aren't enough? And certainly not "gay,"
"straight," or "queer?" Or that your gender changes by the minute,
hour, day, or season? That maybe you were meant to have more than one
gender? Ever feel that your gender isn't so clear-cut? Or that it falls
right off the map? Open yourself to complexity of identity and
experience, and celebrate your genderqueer, gender-gifted Self! See the
Universe, and so-called reality, with a different eye. Help bring about
the next phase of human (r)evolution by living authentically, creating
possibility, and acting as an agent of change in the world.
- Introducing genderqueer. Going beyond the terms, definitions, and "textbook" ways of looking at different gender experiences.
- Invite participants to embrace gender-giftedness in themselves.
- Invite
involvement and action in a radically changing world, with genderqueer
folks at the forefront of the next stage of human (r)evolution.
II. Models of Pride All-Day Adult Workshop

health providers. See attached for info and registration form, and

A TEMPLE-SPONSORED EVENT
STORYTELLING: "SHAPESHIFTERS: A TWO-SPIRIT EVENING" with Storyteller GILLIAN CAMERON and FRIENDS (for men and women)
TIME: 7-9 PM
COST: $10/person; special prices for TEMPLE pledging priestesses: Stars and Moon: complimentary; Sun: $5, Earth: $8
DESCRIPTION: "The Indian looked upon these unique individuals as something special the Great Mystery created to teach us.These people had something special to tell us." -Russell Means Join us for this unique experience of three lifestyles that may be very different from your own. Three transgendered human beings will share their memorable and fascinating life stories. Leading the evening is storyteller Gillian Cameron of Los Angeles, who teaches the spiritual, historical and personal philosophy of the transgendered soul and mythic archetype through story, song, and intimate discourse. According to birth records, one in one hundred persons is born with "ambiguous genitalia." What is male? What is female? How and why do we label people with a gender and what does it mean? Where do intrasexed human beings fit? Where do those who have chosen to live as the "other gender" fit? The Native Americans recognize the "two-spirit" as uniquely gifted. The Hindus have an entire class of respected and accepted cross-dressing male dancers. The TEMPLE holds that all beings are Divine and deserve our respect and compassion. No matter your personal opinion of these issues, come for an evening that may open your eyes and heart. Question and answer period follows.

Deadline: May 25, 2007
GenderQueer Revolution, as part of an unprecedented agreement with Christopher Street West, will be presenting at the Empowerment Stage at CSW Pride this year on June 9 and 10th. We are looking for genderqueer performers with presentations/performance pieces with a uniquely genderqueer feel that will enliven, entertain, energize, and also, educate the wider world about genderqueer at one of the largest Pride events in the world. Those selected will have the opportunity to promote their art and their uniquely genderqueer selves by performing before a vast and diverse audience at Pride (including the throngs of people in the entertainment industry) and by selling art and merchandise.
Interested? Then we need to hear from you by May 25! Our selection committee will want to get a feel for you as a performer/presenter as well as your performance. You must provide video of the EXACT performance piece you would like to submit, preferably before a live audience (or reference past GenderQueer Revolution events at which you have performed). Your performance piece/presentation should fall between 10-15 minutes in length. We will have access to microphones, equipment to play audio CDs, and guitar amplifiers.
Send links to video to info@genderqueerrevolution.org , or email us if you will be performing in the area sometime between now and the 25th.

We might also talk about how ___-queerness goes beyond gender-, but into all the other elements of who we are, including race, ethnicity, philosophy, class, religion, age, language, and creed.
How do we process reexamination and recreation of our life narratives, gender and otherwise? The stories that others assign to us (and that sometimes we assign to ourselves), the details of supreme importance to us in our narratives for whatever conscious or unconscious reasons, the areas that divert from or align with well-known or well-rehearsed narratives - how do we make sense of it all? How do we value our unique narratives without shame and fear?

Ventura County GenderQueer Events: The Freedom Sings Out Rainbow Chorus performances
The Freedom Sings Out Rainbow Chorus is made up of trans, intersex, genderqueer, gay, and lesbian members, of various cultural backgrounds and faiths. If you reside in the Ventura County area, consider joining the Freedom Sings Out Rainbow Chorus! People of all genders, singing ability, vocal range (no such thing as "too high" or "too low") experience, and faiths or lack thereof welcome.
The Chorus offers you an opportunity to spend time with gender-gifted people and to practice your singing in a group, for those of you too shy to sing, or who think you can't, or whose voices have changed due to age, smoking, disuse, or, ahem, various hormone complements. Everyone can indeed, sing, in some way, shape, or form, so share your unique gift with other awesome individuals! Did you know that singing has numerous health and medical applications? It's true! You want a "natural high?" Nothing like group singing to get that going!
If you absolutely do not feel comfortable singing, you can still come watch the chorus rehearse and offer encouragement, just to spend time with wonderful, accepting, genderfabulous people.
Chorus rehearsal happens to coincide with the FTM International Reed Erickson Chapter's meeting, so if you identify as FTM, you can also fellowship with other FTM individuals as well.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is an important time for us to not only cry for those who have fallen victim to anti-trans hatred and violence, but also for us to be angry for living in a society that ignores these deaths.
-Sumi Braun, Student Organizer.
California State University, Long Beach November 15, 2006 - The campus Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center will host Transgender Day of Remembrance programming for the first time at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 and Thursday, November 16, 2006. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of hate crimes against transgender individuals and people who are targeted because of their gender identity and/or gender expression. This event is also an opportunity for non-transgender individuals to become allies and advocate for people who have endured harassment because of their gender identity and/or gender expression.
Scheduled events include the following:
Wednesday, November 15, 2006
* 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Introduction to Gender Identity and Gender Expression (University Student Union 304)
Thursday, November 16, 2006
* 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Trans/Genderqueer Speakers' Panel (Multicultural Center, Faculty Office 3 - Room 2)
* 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. - Candlelight Vigil (Commencement Field, South Campus)
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an international event that raises visibility of gender identity and expression issues. The first Day of Remembrance event was a candlelight vigil held in San Francisco in 1999. This Day of Remembrance was held in honor of Rita Hester, a transwoman who was murdered in her apartment outside Boston, Massachusetts on November 28, 1998. Ms. Hester died of multiple stab wounds, and her murder remains unsolved. Her death sparked the creation of a web project (rememberingourdead.org) dedicated to immortalizing persons killed because of anti-transgender prejudice.
Talia Duran, student organizer, explains why she chose to get involved with Transgender Day of Remembrance as an ally, "Transgender Day of Remembrance is important to me because my partner is transgendered. We all need to know about these hate crimes because awareness brings change."
CSULB Division of Student Services Sponsors for Transgender Day of Remembrance events include: The LGBT Resource Center at CSULB; Project Choice: Asian Pacific Islander Students for Substance Abuse and HIV Prevention; Rainbow Coalition; Delta Lambda Phi Chapter; Counseling and Psychological Services; and Student Life and Development. Campus collaborators include: Episcopal Campus Ministry at CSULB; United Methodist Campus Ministry; Multicultural Resource Center; and Women's Resource Center.

The LGBT Resource Center at CSULB is a student-run organization that strives to promote full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersex, queer-identified, and questioning individuals and their allies at CSULB. The center also strives to eliminate heterosexism, homophobia, gender identity oppression, sexism, classism, racism, ableism, and other blatant and institutional forms of marginalization by providing advocacy, collection, and dissemination of information and resources, and supporting campus queer and ally organizations.

I. GenderQueer panel presentation and discussion
II. A vision-actualization session in anticipation of the G.E.N.D.E.R.S. conference, July 1-2, 2006
The Village at Ed Gould Plaza
1125 N. McCadden Place
Los Angeles, CA 90038
Panel presentation
Come hear and interact with our panelists, representing many different points on the genderqueer/gender-gifted/beyond-gender spectrum, including Shirley Bushnell, Solidad Decosta, Alex Allen, Mike/Michelle Dennis, and Rabbi Levi. We will hear each of these unique stories and journeys and have opportunity to share from and reflect on our own experiences.
G.E.N.D.E.R.S. vision-actualizing
After the panel discussion, stay for the discussion around G.E.N.D.E.R.S., especially if you would count yourself among those who not only see your gender as a gift, but also feel that your artistic, academic, spiritual, world-changing self together with your gender, make up only part of the total gestalt of your Being. Anyone who would like to contribute, volunteer, offer support, offer their organizational prowess, or in some way lend their artistic, academic, spiritual, world-changing energy to the conference. Get a better sense for the unique kind of energy we want G.E.N.D.E.R.S. to have and what we already have planned. Think interactive, experiential, multi-modal, and inclusive, not to mention "merging of spheres," "blurred lines," and "integration of mind, body, S/spirit." Let's share ways we can further actualize something as radically multi-dimensional as G.E.N.D.E.R.S., GenderQueer Equality Now: Deconstructing Everything, Revitalizing S/spirits.
Have ideas now? Let's talk!
Email us, and let's share ways we can further actualize something as
